What is TDA7297?

The TDA7297 is a 15-W dual-bridge amplifier specially designed for audio applications with two speakers. It has a wide supply voltage range of 6 V to 18 V, maximum output current of 2,000 mA, and maximum quiescent current of 65 mA when operating at 16.5 V.


Are TDA7296 and TDA7297 interchangeable?

TDA7296 and TDA7297 are not interchangeable, although the package is the same, the internal structure is too different: Tda7296-70v-60w DMOS AUDIO AMPLIFIER WITH MUTE/ST-BY +35V/-35V, single circuit 60W AUDIO AMPLIFIER WITH MUTE/ standby function. Tda7297-15 +15W DUAL BRIDGE AMPLIFIER (BTL), operating voltage 6V~18V, also with mute and standby function.


What is a dual bridge amplifier?

The IC is a dual bridge amplifier, meaning it requires both left and right audio input to provide a stereo output. The output is also split into channel 1 and channel 2 each capable of driving 15W speakers. The IC also comes in with a built-in mute function and stand-by function.


What is a bridge amplifier?

Bridging an amplifier refers to the process of combining two of four channels into one or two channels with half the ohms. The technique has become very popular among many car owners because it allows amplifiers to send out a more powerful mono signal to the subwoofer or speakers.


How does a bridged amplifier work?

To operate an amp in bridged mode, a single input signal enters the amplifier and is split into two identical signals. One has its polarity inverted. The original signal is sent to one channel of the amp and the inverted signal is sent to the other channel.
